Poems by Sreemedha Chatterjee

Nature: Redefined

My life is like a secluded ground,

Wet with dews of sorrow

Where happiness is like -

The unprecedented rays of the winter sun!

Making emeralds and

Kissing the blunt blades of grass;

Symbolic of my existence - Underlying!

Where water is the obsession,

The humongous amount of care-

That nurtures my famished passions!

But then rumbles the treacherous tempest -

Loneliness - the silent storm!

That ruins even the fewest of my surviving desires,

My greenery - the plants!

Advents then the flood,

The Envy -

That takes a fiery test and finally -

Snaps off all the threads

Binding the last few specks of my patience,

The last few green survivors- the grasses!

Flooding and vacating me -

Empty, blank, and nullified.

But!

After all these horrors -

There's a scintillating day -

Embedded with sparkling diamonds of positivity -

The Love!

It surpasses all the above hatred!

And showers bounty of affection -

Healing all the past harrowing evocations!

All of the losses, pains, and sacrifices!

Eonian

I just woke up from the sleep of doomed misery,

And was wandering vehemently in the non-cognitive mist of dreams;

When someone gently gripped my hand; pulled me back-

And I twirled 'round;

The breeze played with our contiguity,

The rainbows glistened over our delineated figurines,

And the Sun declined its crown of Honour,

To coronate the enclosure of modesty that prevailed.

The gust came and went,

But never harmed; instead softened -

And encouraged the enthroning,

While all fantasies celebrated!

Howbeit, the Night was indifferent -

It summoned the darkness,

And in a moment did it come;

Started forming bulwarks, distancing the engaged mortals,

And gradually, shutting all the conjunctions of Love -

Thus damning all old reveries...

Both cried; both pleaded,

But darkness acted the demon:

Silhouetted the evil,

And gradually thickened its hutch-

Both expostulated, both lamented;

But none heard...

All beginnings consequently ended without any climax:

Both parted ways -

Never met again...
