After a Long Time: A Poem

After a Long Time

~ Omprakash Prasad

Today, after a long time,
I've set out for a journey,
Remembered you a lot
Each and every moment.
As if in the act of scratching,
The pangs themselves
Have felt the deepest anguish.

Embarking on a journey
And again
Living all those scenes
With utmost liveliness.
And in the feeling
Of this living, you
Are remembered
Through the window-seat
Of the train…

Ah! This joyous moment,
Is an unforgettable one
In my mind and heart.
This can never separate us.

The awareness of your presence
On this seat of the train is
As though in airs
A sudden and mysteriously
Spread the fragrance of shiuli.

The gnawing of the journey
And retrieving you from
The album of my heart
Are akin to refreshing
The age-old memories.
And now the coming air
From the train-window,
Upsurges my passion
For meeting.
