The Apologetic Night: A Poem

The Apologetic Night

~ Vikash Pandey

So, there was my last night!
When I was depressed,
Just laying myself on the bed,
And trying to breathe
Through my bittersweet
Memories floating in
Dizzy consciousness.
Waiting for your words.

That was the night
Shadowed with light
Of realization of the truth,
When I found myself!
The most broken self.
Lost in the whirlwinds
Of nothingness.

Who cares for the promises,
That were made,
To nourish our withered souls.

It's so horrible!
How a misunderstood word can,
Change your perception forever,
And a decision that can
Ruin your life.

And I see myself fallen
Like a wounded bird
In the ditch of apology.
