The magnificent grave: A Poem

The Magnificent Grave

~ Sanjhbati Mukherjee

Get up girl, and find your grave
You don't belong here,
Walk back to your cage
The world ain't entertained
By your petty little epiphanies
Stand behind the bars, and pacify your rage.
You'll probably get down,
Hoping to see the treasures hidden
And then, for the millionth time,
You'll have your heart broken
Shattered, bruised, rusted, and gone
All ephemeral love
You fondled, is now taken.

Fall down, and die-
CAN'T YOU HEAR?
Your denouement calls,
It's insanely near
Can you hide your flaws,
Beneath your skin?
You can't, ain't it clear?
Want to be loved, go
And starve yourself
Satisfy your world,
By your petty little shells
We ain't coherent, you ain't loved
You just lost yourself to our games.

The autumn chill just
Ran down your spine
There ain't any hope of a spring
You'll ebb and flow through
The currents of despair
We shall be standing at the end,
With your coffin.
You'll see a perfect life of love and lust
All after you surrender to your fate
But first lose yourself,
To our designations
And lie down in
Your magnificent grave.
