Mirth All Around: A Poem

Mirth All Around

~ Ashok Das

The sounds in the sky mighty and herculean,

Rendering hopes for the drouth

And lives for a million.

As the lightnings appear with roars in the cloud,

Glee for the horizon

The elixir arrives aloud.

As the elder drops of water

Touch the ground,

Aroma in the ambience

Mirth all around.

The fowls begin to rejoice

And the woodlands replenish,

The wind sings with canorous voice

The elixir above cleanses the blemish.

From quenching the thirst

To flourishing the harvest,

Renewing those terrains

Which were once lifeless.

Rain enacts all the vitals

And goes all its way.

Surely, it departs after its arrival

For another sphere to allay.
